Merkel to Support Italy in Tackling Migration Challenge

BERLIN (REUTERS) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Monday she wanted to support Italy in its efforts to reduce the number of migrants arriving on its shores, possibly handling asylum requests for Europe in non-European countries including Libya.

Most migrants attempting to reach Europe from Africa take the sea route from Libya to Italy, though last year saw a spike in numbers departing from Morocco to Spain instead.

"Italy is one of the countries that is receiving a lot of refugees as a first arrival country," Merkel told reporters before talks with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.

"We want to support Italy in its call for solidarity and hope that Germany will also be met with understanding when it comes to solidarity in Europe with the issues of migration."

Merkel said her talks with Conte and other European leaders in coming weeks would focus on the question of how the European Union could enable a stable government in Libya and how its coast guard could be better trained.

"And how we can, if necessary, already carry out asylum-related proceedings there. These are all questions that we will discuss in the coming months and where we want to work very closely together," Merkel said.

Matteo Salvini, interior minister in the anti-establishment government that took office this month in Rome, has adopted a policy of blocking foreign humanitarian boats from Italian ports, which has triggered heated exchanges with France and the Netherlands.

Conte has spoken of the need for European-run immigration offices outside Europe to prevent "voyages of death". More than 3,000 migrants died attempting to cross the Mediterranean in 2017, according to the U.N. Migration Agency (IOM).

During the short news conference with Merkel in Berlin, Conte said the European Union had to change its position on migration. "I think Germany is aware of this too," he added.

Italy wants to adapt current EU asylum guidelines in favor of "a new approach that is more harmonious, so that whoever sets foot in Italy, sets foot in Europe", Conte said.

The European Commission said on Monday it was confident that EU leaders could agree at a summit next week on handling migrants and refugees, but some diplomats were much less optimistic.

UE quer Criar Campo de Concentração de Imigrantes. Alemanha (!), Áustria e Itália se Unem Contra Imigrantes.

O ministro do interior da Alemanha, Horst Seehofer desafia o próprio governo de Angela Merkel e se une aos ministros do interior da Itália, Matteo Salvini,  e da Áustria, Herbert Kickl paera conter os avanços da imigração na Europa (fotos do jornal Daily Mail).

O governo de Angela Merkel parece prestes a cair, por conta de sua política imigratória que aceita sem quaisquer critérios cotas enormes de imigrantes.

Hoje li que a própria União Europeia, com receio da repercussão da queda do governo de Merkel, está pensando em criar um campo de concentração de refugiados fora do bloco europeu (fala-se em Albânia ou Tunísia) para que seja feita uma triagem de imigrantes, deportando aqueles que vieram apenas atrás de dinheiro do bem-estar social europeu.

Os campos foram chamados de "Plataformas de Desembarque".

Humm... essa triagem teria qual chance de funcionar? Zero, claro.

European Council President Donald Tusk has proposed that EU leaders create “regional disembarkation platforms” outside the European Union, where officials could quickly differentiate between refugees in need of protection and economic migrants who would potentially face return to their countries of origin.

The proposal is an effort to break the acute political crisis over migration and asylum that has bedeviled EU leaders since 2015 — and even threatened in recent days to topple the German government — even as the numbers of arrivals have plummeted since the peak of the crisis.

The disembarkation platform concept — which officials said would have to be implemented in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) — could create a formal mechanism by which the EU can bridge the divide between hard-line leaders calling for tough border controls and those insisting that EU nations obey international law and welcome refugees in need of protection.

But the idea could also open EU leaders to criticism that they are outsourcing their political problem by creating centers for people seeking entry in countries on the periphery of the bloc. Among the potential partner nations are Tunisia and Albania, but officials say it is far too soon to speculate.

The hardline interior ministers of Austria, Germany and Italy have formed an 'axis of the willing' to combat illegal immigration, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said Wednesday, escalating a Europe-wide row over the issue.

The announcement by Kurz in Berlin after talks with German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer marks a shot across the bow at Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is trying to pull together a deal for EU cooperation on placing asylum seekers.

Seehofer - who is locked in an open migration feud with Merkel that is threatening the stability of her coalition government - said that he and his far-right Austrian and Italian counterparts, Herbert Kickl and Matteo Salvini, formed their alliance this week.

Their cooperation would extend to 'issues of security and terrorism', he said, but did not offer specifics on what it would entail.  

The news comes as Merkel called for tolerance amid a wave of support for anti-immigration parties across Europe, with the Chancellor saying the current political crop's migration policy would act as a 'litmus test' for the future of the continent.

Kurz, whose country assumes the EU's rotating presidency on July 1, said he welcomed the 'good cooperation that we want to develop between Rome, Vienna and Berlin'.

'I think it marks very sensible cooperation that will contribute to reducing illegal migration to Europe,' Kurz told reporters at a convivial news conference with Seehofer, in marked contrast with the far more formal exchange he had with Merkel late Tuesday.

'We believe an axis of the willing is needed to fight illegal migration.'

50 Fake News Contra Trump

Da lista de 50 fake news contra Trump há algumas que são bem engraçadas, mas todas são bem perigosas.

O que é fake news? Bom, para mim, basta uma distorção dos fatos para se tornar fake news. Por vezes, você pode falar a verdade e mentir ao mesmo tempo (ao distorcer o ângulo da notícia ou ao usar um termo quw seja eufemismo ou preconceituoso), mesmo usando dados quantitativos. Como eu ensino aos meus alunos, mesmo gráficos podem ser mentirosos, e estatísticas podem ser mentiras gigantescas.

Já que uma pequena distorção ou o uso de um termo já torna uma notícia em notícia falsa é muito difícil banir a tal fake news.

Em todo caso, algumas fake news por seu grau de erro factual se destacam. Além disso, eu considero que para alguns assuntos as fake news são maioria, como aborto, casamento gay, Islã, terrorismo muçulmano, imigração europeia, Igreja Católica, Lula, Bolsonaro, Venezuela, Cuba e Trump.

E alguns meios de comunicação são quase na totalidade fake news, quando se tratam desses assuntos como Globo, UOL, CNN, The Economist, Financial Times e BBC,

O site Sharyl Attkisson catalogou 50 fake news contra Trump.

Fiz uma seleção de 10 para destacar, vejam todas clicando aqui. Entre essas 10 eu excluí muita bobagem que foi dita sobre os "russos" e a campanha política de Trump.

1) Em outubro de 2016, vários jornais disseram que Trump não havia pago imposto de renda por 18 anos seguidos. Depois verificou-se que além de pagar neste período ele pagou mais impostos em termos relativos do que Obama e Bernie Sanders.

2) Disseram que Trump tirou o busto de Martin Luther King Jr. da Casa Branca. Era mentira.

3) Disseram que todos os servidores seniors do Departamento de Estado tinha pedido demissão depois da vitória de Trump. Era mentira.

4) Sites jornalísticos disseram que Trump ameaçou invadir o México por conta da invasão de gangues mexicanas nos EUA. Era mentira.

5) NBC News disse que Putin afirmou que tinha informações comprometedoras contra Trump. Na verdade, Putin disse o contrário, que não tinha informações;

6)  Jornais disseram que a confiança na imprensa caiu durante a gestão Trump. Na verdade, os dados eram da época de Obama;

7) Jornais disseram que Trump chamou os imigrantes mexicanos de "animais". Na verdade, Trump se referia a membros de uma gangue mexicana assassina chamada MS-13.

8) Jornalistas divulgaram uma foto de crianças imigrantes em gaiolas dizendo que era a política de imigração de Trump. Na verdade, era foto da época de Obama.

9) New York Times disse que apenas mil pessoas foram a um comício de Trump. Na verdade, os cálculos apontaram para mais de 5 mil.

10) CNN editou todo um discurso de Trump para querer mostrar que Trump não sabia que os japoneses faziam carros nos EUA. Na verdade, o discurso inteiro de Trump reconhecia esse fato.

Camisa de Salvini na Itália "Meu Papa é Bento XVI"

Consigo entender por que um político italiano tem desprezo pelo Papa Francisco. Pois Bergoglio está muito agressivo na sua defesa da imigração na Europa se esquecendo de tentar resolver ou minorar os problemas dos países de origem dos imigrantes e apoiando uma transformação cultural anticristã na Europa.

Li, neste final de semana, que há algum tempo o atual ministro do interior, Matteo Salvini, da Itália apoiou a distribuição de camisas escritas: "Meu Papa é Bento XVI" (foto acima).

Minha posição, dita várias vezes aqui, é que apesar de eu ter bastante respeito por muito do que Bento XVI escreveu, eu acho que Bento XVI cometeu um dos maiores erros da história da Igreja ao renunciar. Ele abandonou os católicos. Detesto também muitas vezes como ele se comporta e o fato dele se vestir como Papa ainda. Neste sentido, Bento XVI não é mais meu papa, ele não quis ser.

Por outro lado, entendo a angústia e até a raiva que muitos católicos têm do Papa Francisco, ele tem feito e falado coisas absurdas e até mesmo heréticas.

O escritor Antonio Socci recentemente escreveu sobre essa camisa de Salvini e sobre as diferenças entre Francisco e Bento XVI. O texto está em italiano, usem o Google Translate.

Aqui vai a tradução do início do texto de Socci, em que ele fala da camisa e elogia um livro de Bento XVI:

Ele já tinha feito em polêmicas implícitas com a migração de Bergoglio. O último livro recém-lançado pelo papa emérito Liberare la libertà mostra-o dramaticamente. Fé e política no terceiro milênio. Deve ser dito que é um livro cheio de reflexões e idéias que imediatamente nos lembra o encanto e a vastidão do pensamento de Ratzinger. Um pensamento que é gigantesco quando comparado à miséria e ao conformismo superficial do tempos...

Dois Casos do "Carinho" dos Esquerdistas com a Humanidade.

Dois casos que mostram o "carinho" dos esquerdistas com a humanidade:

1) Pesquisa em um programa da comediante Michelle Wolf perguntou aos seus telespectadores esquerdistas (por causa do viés da comediante)  se eles desejavam que o acordo nuclear entre os Estados Unidos e a Coreia do Norte não desse certo porque se der certo Trump vai levar o crédito por isso.

71% dos telespectadores preferem que pelo menos 52 milhões de pessoas (que vivem na Coreia do Sul) vivam sob a ameaça de uma bomba nuclear do que Trump ser vitorioso na busca pela paz.

Esse é o mesmo pessoal que grita pela paz nas ruas. 

2) Nos Estados Unidos, a Suprema Corte decidiu que um confeiteiro não precisa fazer bolo para casamento gay, se não quiser, se isso ofender sua crença religiosa.

O pessoal do Campus Reform perguntou aos estudantes americanos se eles acharam a decisão correta.

Esquerdistas responderam que a decisão foi errada, porque, para eles, o confeiteiro deve ser obrigado a fazer o bolo para o casal gay, pois quem tem empresa deve servir a todos, o cara perde a suas crenças, não tem mais direito a elas.

Daí, o repórter perguntou se o confeiteiro fosse um negro e o casamento fosse de membros do grupo Ku Klux Klan (que perseguia negros).

Aí, os estudantes viram a falta de lógica de seus argumentos, mudaram e apoiaram o confeiteiro.

Depois o repórter perguntou se o confeiteiro fosse um judeu e fosse um casal de palestino.

Esquerdistas mostraram que não defendem direitos humanos, eles defendem ditadura de pensamento idiota, sem lógica.

A Doutrina Internacional "Fuck Obama" de Trump.

Outro dia, eu li que um amigo jornalista do presidente Trump descreveu a doutrina internacional dele usando palavras de baixo calão. Disse que a doutrina internacional de Trump se chama ou "We are American, Bitches" (algo como "Nossos somos Americanos, Porra) ou "Fuck Obama Doctrine" (Doutrina Foda-se Obama).

Hummm..para mim,não precisava dos palavrões, mas gosto muito da ideia de afastar completamente a política internacional de Obama, que foi um desastre do começo ao fim.

Ontem, li uma ótima análise do historiador Victor Davis Hanson da negociação desastrosa, desonesta e sorrateira de Obama com o Irã no acordo nuclear desse país, fazendo o Irã dominar completamente os países ocidentais, receber muito dinheiro, enquanto mantém seu programa nuclear e oprimi a população do país. Trump usou a "Fuck Obama Doctrine" e saiu do acordo, o que fez muito bem. Leiam a análise de Hanson é muito boa.

Hoje leio que a doutrina internacional de Trump para o Oriente Médio vai mudar para muito melhor a região. O artigo é do Gatestone Institute, vejamos parte do texto:

The "Trump Doctrine" for the Middle East

After three successive American Presidents had used a six-month waiver to defer moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem for more than two decades, President Donald J. Trump decided not to wait any longer. On December 7, 2017, he declared that the United States recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel; the official embassy transfer took place on May 14th, the day of Israel's 70th anniversary.

From the moment of Trump's declaration, leaders of the Muslim world expressed anger and announced major trouble. An Islamic summit conference was convened in Istanbul a week later, and ended with statements about a "crime against Palestine". Western European leaders followed suit. Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel said that President Trump's decision was a "serious mistake" and could have huge "consequences". French President Emmanuel Macron, going further, declared that the decision could provoke a "war".

Despite these ominous predictions, trouble remained largely absent. The Istanbul statement remained a statement. The "war" anticipated by Macron did not break out.

The Islamic terrorist organization Hamas sent masses of rioters from Gaza to tear down Israel's border fence and cross over, to force Israeli soldiers to fire, thereby allowing Hamas to have bodies of "martyrs" to show to the cameras. So far, Hamas has sent 62 of its own people to their death. Fifty of them were, by Hamas's own admission, members of Hamas.

Pundits who predicted more violent reactions have been surprised by the relatively quiet reaction of the Palestinian and Muslim communities. The reason might be called the "Trump Doctrine for the Middle East".

One element of it consisted of crushing the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. President Trump had promised quickly to clear the world of what had become a main backbone of Islamic terrorism. He kept his promise in less than a year, and without a massive deployment of American troops. Trump has shown the strength of the United States and restored its credibility in a region where strength and force determine credibility.

Another element of it was put in place during President Trump's trip to Saudi Arabia in May 2017. President Trump renewed ties which had seriously deteriorated during the previous 8 years. Trump more broadly laid the foundation for a new alliance of the United States with the Sunni Arab world, but he put two conditions on it: a cessation of all Sunni Arab support for Islamic terrorism and an openness to the prospect of a regional peace that included Israel.

Both conditions are being gradually fulfilled. In June 2017, Saudi Arabia's King Salman chose his son Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) as heir to the throne. MBS started an internal revolution to impose new directions on the kingdom. The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition, created on December 15, 2015, was endorsed by the United States; it held its inaugural meeting on November 26, 2017. In addition, links between Israeli and Saudi security services were strengthened and coordination between the Israeli and Egyptian militaries intensified.

An alliance between Israel and the main countries of the Sunni Arab world to contain Iran also slowly and unofficially began taking shape. MBS, calling calledHamas a terrorist organization, saying that it must "be destroyed". He toldrepresentatives of Jewish organizations in New York that Palestinian leaders need to "take the [American] proposals or shut up."

Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas was summoned to Riyadh twice -- in November and December 2017; and it appears he was "asked" to keep quiet. Never has the distance between Palestinian organizations, and Saudi Arabia and the Sunni Arab world, seemed so far. The only Sunni Arab country to have maintained ties with Hamas is Qatar, but the current Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim ben Hamad Al Thani, has been under pressure to change his stance.

Immediately after President Trump left Riyadh, a third element emerged. The US presidential plane went directly from Riyadh to in Israel: for the first time, a direct flight between Saudi Arabia and Israel took place. President Trump went to Jerusalem, where he became the first sitting US President to visit the Western Wall, the only historical remains of a retaining wall from the ancient Temple of King Solomon. During his campaign, Trump had referred to Jerusalem as "the eternal capital of the Jewish people", implicitly acknowledging that the Jews have had their roots there for 3,000 years.

After his visit to the Wall, President Trump went to Bethlehem and told Mahmoud Abbas what no American President had ever said: that Abbas is a liar and that he is personally responsible for the incitement to violence and terror. In the days that followed, the US Congress demanded that the Palestinian Authority renounce incentivizing terrorism by paying cash to imprisoned Palestinian terrorists and families of terrorists killed while carrying out attacks. President Trump's Middle East negotiators, Jared Kushner and Jason Greenblatt made it clear to Palestinian leaders that US aid to the Palestinian Authority could end if the US demand was not met. Nikki Haley told the United Nations that the US could stop funding UNWRA if Palestinian leaders refused to negotiate and accept what the US is asking for. Since it was founded in 1994, the Palestinian Authority has never been subjected to such intense American pressure.

The fourth element was President Trump's decision to leave the Iran nuclear deal. President Trump immediately announced he would restore "the harshest, strongest, most stringent sanctions" to suffocate the mullahs' regime. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has since presented to Iran a list of 12 "basic requirements" for a new agreement.

President Trump's decision came in a context where the Iran regime has just suffered a series of heavy blows: the Israeli Mossad's seizure in Tehran of highly confidential documents showing that Iran has not ceased to lie about its nuclear program; the revelation by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of the Mossad operation, and the Israeli army's decisive response to an Iranian rocket barrage launched from Syrian territory. By it, Israel showed its determination not to allow Russia to support Iran when Iran uses its bases to attack Israel.

Ambassador John Bolton, now National Security Advisor, mentioned in January that the "strategic interest of the United States" is to see the regime overthrown.

Referring recently to the situation in the Middle East and the need to achieve peace, Pompeo spoke of the "Palestinians", not of the Palestinian Authority, as in Iran, possibly to emphasize the distinction between the people and their leadership, and that the leadership in both situations, may no longer be part of the solution. Hamas, for the US, is clearly not part of any solution.
